This will be my second year teaching at Daniel Morgan Intermediate and my tenth year teaching! I have taught secondary English and Special Education in private and public school systems in Virginia and New Mexico. Every year is a new beginning, with new students and individual needs. My hope is that my students will become independent thinkers and collaborate as a team to achieve their goals. I want all of my students to know that they "Can"!
I am a mother of a creative and free-thinking five-year-old boy! He is my love! We enjoy hiking, riding bikes and swimming! I grew up in Frederick County and graduated from James Wood High School. I attended the University of New Mexico, which is where I received my diploma and teaching certificate. While I will always love the Southwest, my family and friends were back East. I moved home to Virginia and was lucky enough to meet my husband.
When I was five, I traveled with my mother and brother to Europe for five weeks, camping along the way. She must have been insane! That was the first of many international trips. I love learning about and visiting different countries to learn about their cultures. I especially love to eat all of the wonderful cuisines different countries provide. However, I did become a vegetarian somewhere in college and have never looked back. I love animals and wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a child. My retirement dream would be to have a farm where I can save all of the unwanted animals!
