Welcome Back Handley Judges,
Yes, the 2019-2020 school year has arrived and promises to be full of excitement, opportunities, and learning for all! I hope you had a wonderful summer and had a chance to relax a little.
Thursday, August 8, 2019, you will begin a new chapter at John Handley High School. I’m so excited to see you walking the halls, working hard in the classrooms, and performing in extracurricular activities throughout the school year. Be ready, because I am going to challenge you like never before. We have an incredible student body and you have the ability to be awesome in whatever you want to do. So, on day one let’s not wait for something to happen, let’s get out there and make it happen...you have what it takes!
The information has been sent home on the Handley Kick-off, revised Pride Time, Chromebook pick-up, student information update sheet, and parking permit instructions. Please pay additional attention to bell schedule regarding Pride Time. We will begin each day with the normal 8:20 AM warning bell and report directly to first block by 8:25 AM. Pride Time will take place after the first block and before the second block each day. Pride Time is a valuable part of our instructional day that provides all students with additional academic, social, and emotional support. We want to maximize our efforts during Pride Time each day.
Please join us on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, for our annual Handley Kick-off. The day begins with Freshman/New Student Orientation for students (12:00 PM in the Commons), followed by upperclassmen schedule, parking fees, and Chromebook pick-up (2:00 PM at the concession stand)...food and fun will be provided between 2:00-4:00 PM at the Handley Bowl. Then, we will wrap up the day with Freshman/New Student Orientation for parents (6:30-7:30 PM in the Patsy Cline Theatre). A great way to kick-off the 2019-2020 school year!
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 21st…”Back To School Night” at John Handley High School at 6:30 PM to meet and greet first semester teachers.
I look forward to a safe, positive, and rewarding 2019-2020 school year!
Mr. Mike Dufrene, Principal
