Shared Tools

  • Shared Tools – Students will avoid the sharing of tools whenever possible. In some instances, it will not be possible to avoid the sharing of items to instruct in the skill-based portion of the curriculum. When unable to avoid the sharing of such items, students will practice good hand washing prior to use and wear gloves when using items. Nitrile gloves will be provided in each classroom. CDC approved disinfectants will be used to wipe down high-touch items between classes.

Any change to the Universal Practices for Electives will be approved and communicated through the CAO CTE contact to be evaluated by the Safety Team.

Equipment Lockers

  • Students enrolled in CTE programs with individually assigned Personal Protective Equipment will be assigned locker space to house such items. Students will be responsible for the care of such items and will ensure items are not shared among students and are stored properly in the individually assigned CTE equipment lockers.

Any change to the Universal Practices for Electives will be approved and communicated through the CAO CTE contact to be evaluated by the Safety Team.

Large Equipment Items

  • Large Equipment Items - Whenever feasible, students will only use large pieces of equipment one at a time and will avoid shared use. Because of the nature of CTE course curricula, the use of larger equipment items shared among students is often necessary. Students and staff will wear disposable nitrile gloves when using large shared equipment items in addition to other required personal protective equipment outlined by the instructor. Equipment handles and buttons will be cleaned between classes.
