Computer Use

  • Computer use – When using classroom computers, every other computer will be used to maintain 6 feet social distance. Computers will be wiped down with sanitary wipes prior to use and after using computers. Per CDC guideline recommendation, wipeable keyboard covers will be placed on keyboards in classrooms that are high use. Keyboards, mouse, and other equipment that is frequently touched will be cleaned before and after use. Mouse pads will be removed as cleaning between classes is not feasible.

    Any change to the Universal Practices for Electives will be approved and communicated through the CAO CTE contact to be evaluated by the Safety Team.

Safety Glasses

  • Safety Glasses – Current CDC guidelines state that the use of alternative disinfection methods such as UV lights (ex. safety glasses sanitization cabinets) is not known to be effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19 therefore, students will be issued individual use safety glasses when utilized in CTE programs.

    Any change to the Universal Practices for Electives will be approved and communicated through the CAO CTE contact to be evaluated by the Safety Team.

Other Safety Equipment

  • Other Personal Safety Equipment – Personal Protective Equipment such as welding helmets, safety aprons or coats, or gloves will be issued for individual student use and will be stored in CTE equipment lockers located near program classrooms. These items remain the property of WPS but will be issued for individual student use. Sharing of such equipment will be prohibited. Such items will be inventoried and logged to track student assignments and ensure return of materials at the conclusion of the semester or school year. Items will be cleaned with appropriate disinfectant prior to reassignment per CDC disinfecting guidelines.
