The effective use of technology is vital to student success, as technology touches every aspect of our daily lives in the twenty-first century. Winchester Public Schools is committed to supporting research-based best practices in the use of technology to enhance learning, teaching, engagement and assessment. It is the role of the Technology Department to promote and enable the integration of technology and information resources in curriculum, instruction, assessment and administrative functions to create an environment that allows students and staff to be globally connected, technologically skilled, and prepared to thrive in a highly competitive digital world. Through technology assistance, software training, and professional consulting, we aim to inspire educators to new technology possibilities.
The Technology staff strives to provide a consistent and reliable experience for all users. Our instructional support team is the front-line technology support for WPS. They provide inservice and technical support in the use of school software and hardware, distribution and management of WPS Chromebooks, as well as ensuring adherence to technology policies. The network/server support team is responsible for supporting core systems infrastructure, wide and local area networks, telephone services, file servers, secure data and communications services, and many specialized applications. The design, installation, daily operations, maintenance, and repair services for all parts of the technology enterprise infrastructure - both on-site and remote - is handled by our team of skilled hardware/software technicians. Additional support includes the development and maintenance of division websites and public relations support through social media, procurement and budget management, system software administration, and records retention.
