The Spanish Immersion Pre-K Program is a tuition-based program within our Dual Language Immersion Program, housed at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. It is designed for families who would like their PreK children ages 3 or 4 to learn another language while receiving the same high quality academic curriculum as students throughout the division.
Through an exciting, engaging, and enriching environment, three and four-year-old students learn content in Spanish. Following an immersion model, instruction is delivered mostly in English early in the year and 90% in Spanish after routines are established. The class follows the WPS calendar, a 180-day schedule from mid-August to late May. A limited number of reduced-tuition spaces are available for children of employees of Winchester Public Schools or the City of Winchester. The regular cost for this program is $730.00 per month. The reduced cost for WPS and City of Winchester employees is $520.00 per month.
Parents may enroll their children for the next school year beginning in January. Rolling registration occurs all year long, as spaces are available. Children who will be three or four years of age on or before September 30 of the registration year may register.
