The calendar of observances has been adapted from the ADL Calendar of Observances, Virginia Proclamations, and the National Educational & Health Awareness Dates.  The calendars are not exhaustive and highlight U.S. holidays that are either legal or observed within the country.  Several national and international observances celebrated in the U.S. are included.
