    Equitable family engagement will embrace diversity, identify and break down systemic barriers, act as a bridge between the school and families, have a positive impact on student achievement and behavior. Family Engagement will empower families to know how to support their child’s education, and for schools to learn from the expertise families have about their child. Academic and whole child success is dependent on family engagement.

    • Partnering with Families and Communities published in the Educational Leadership journal, outlines how school leaders can support the development of a school learning community that includes parents and family members. This resource provides many examples from the field organized by different types of engagement strategies.

    • Principals-Engaging All Families in Student Learning self-paced guide for principals to use to gain a deeper understanding of what can be done to increase equity and access for families in the formative assessment process.
    • Teachers-Families’ Strengths-PowerPoint Presentation a self-paced guide for teachers to use for deepening their knowledge and understanding of each family’s culture. This resource ultimately supports teachers building relationships with families during the formative assessment process, leading to more equitable teaching practices.
