WPS believes student outcomes should not be predicted by race, ethnicity, ability, gender, religion or sexual orientation. As a result, we strive to increase our knowledge, shift our thinking, and evaluate our understanding around the concept of equity and bridging our differences.
Developing culturally responsive schools is a core component of our work in establishing specific initiatives around the areas of community engagement, culturally responsive schools, and maximizing the potential of our students. To that end, the WPS Equity Leadership Team, each certified as an Equity facilitator, has been established. Our Equity Work is a comprehensive and systemic professional learning process aimed at producing the deep personal, professional, and organizational transformations that are necessary to develop equitable places of learning for all of our children.
