Mrs. Rachell DuVall

Hello all! I’m Mrs. DuVall and I teach 8th-grade Principles of Science at Daniel Morgan Middle School (DMMS).

A little about me: I was born and raised in a small town outside Kingston, Ontario (Canada). I moved to the U.S in 2017 to be with my husband. We eventually settled in Charles Town, West Virginia in 2020. I love this area. I am especially impressed with the Winchester Community as it has the small town values I love, mixed with a big city spirit.

I graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I am particularly interested in looking at Earth's systems and their interaction with humans. I got my start with teaching, working in an outdoor education center. There, I taught teens leadership, group dynamics, and sustainable camping practices. Since then, I have taught English Language instruction in South Korea, enhanced English skills for multi-national tech company personnel, and I moonlighted in social work in both family and teen emergency housing.

These days, Room 275 at DMMS is my happy place. The best part of my job is seeing students explore their curiosities and discover new interests. Even if a student doesn’t see themselves in a STEM career, studying science will build logical and deductive reasoning skills. I fully believe that there is space for EVERYONE in Science. This school year is going to be so fun. I look forward to meeting everyone!  Feel free to email me if you have any questions about your child.
