Welcome to the STEAM Lab
-
STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math to guide student inquiry, problem solving, collaboration, and creativity. Students become designers, creators, thinkers, and leaders.
The focus of the JKES STEAM Lab and Maker Engineer Lab is to help students and educators develop an understanding of the Engineering Design Process and develop inquiry skills by engaging in STEAM related challenges. JKES is working to partner with local and national organizations to develop student understanding of STEAM related jobs and work opportunities for the 21st Century. We work collaboratively with Shenandoah University students to develop lessons and materials that inspire the next generation of engineers. Last year our STEAM Lab students won a Best in Show award through Pets in the Classroom Habitat Contest as well as being featured in the Smithsonian's STEM, in 30 episode.
