Welcome to Physical Education
-
Physical Education: The Physical Education Program at GQES strives to offer a variety of physical movement activities and experiences throughout the school year allowing for optimal growth leading to a healthy lifestyle. Students learn essential motor skills through physical movement experiences in P.E. class.
The focus is for every child to be happy about what he or she can achieve. We believe that a quality Physical Education experience is essential to your child’s total educational experience. Exercise will boost brain power allowing for optimal learning and brain growth needed for achieving a healthy lifestyle.
What are we learning in PE?
-
Students in grades (K-2) will be learning and performing: Body Spatial Awareness, Locomotor Movements, and Throwing/Catching skills. Students in grades: (3-4) will be learning and performing Cardiovascular Fitness Challenges, and “Team Games”.
Regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence improves strength and endurance, reduces anxiety and stress, helps control weight, builds healthy bones and muscles, stimulates brain output, and increases self esteem. Avoid Childhood Obesity & related diseases by staying active and eating healthy!
Eating fruits and veggies in place of higher calorie, lower nutrient foods matters in maintaining a healthy weight and may reduce the risk of many diseases. People who eat more generous amounts of fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases, including stroke, type 2 diabetes, some types of cancer, and perhaps heart disease and high blood pressure.
