Art Education is important in the development of every child.  Some of the benefits of art include increased motor skills, cultural awareness, confidence, perseverance, collaboration, and focus.   The art room at VACDES is  a place where students can develop self-confidence by making art.  It is essential that students have an atmosphere in which they can release their creative spirit.  Students enter the art room with smiling faces eager to be creative!

During the 2022-2023 school year, Grade PreK-4 students will be offered:

55-minute art classes once a week.

Lessons are based on the State of Virginia"s Visual Art Standards of Learning in the designated areas:

• Creative Process
• Critical Thinking and Communication
• History, Culture, and Citizenship
• Innovation in the Arts
• Technique and Application

VACDES school/student needs and correlation with grade level core curriculum​ also play an important role.
