Welcome to Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School, home of the Little Judges, located in historic Winchester, Virginia in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. At Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School everyday we work hard to live out our theme - Local Leaders Today! Global Leaders Tomorrow! for the children we serve from Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade.
Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School nurtures young leaders and prepares their students to make informed decisions engaged in the local community and the global setting to lead momentous contributions to the global community. Beginning in Kindergarten, Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School cultivates creative reflections on and wonder about the local, regional, and international communities while building leadership skills for the global society of the 21st Century.
The current school opened its doors to students in the Fall of 1995 and was renamed in honor of its first principal, Charlotte DeHart. The original Virginia Avenue School building was completed in 1931. The original building had eight classrooms. Eight more classrooms were added to the original structure in 1950, and a second addition of a library and four classrooms was completed in 1958.
