National Hispanic Heritage Month was celebrated from September 15th through October 15th this year. At FDES, students and staff listened to Hispanic music during morning announcements. On Friday. October 15th, FDES celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a special closing activity in the gym.
There were stations for different cultures and countries. Each station exhibited a celebration based on the country's folklore and culture.The countries and celebrations on display included the following:
Spain: Celebration “La tomatina”
Colombia: Barranquilla Carnival
Chile: “Minga” Tiradura de casa.
Honduras: “day of the Cacique Lempira”
Venezuela: “the Burriquita dance”
Mexico: Dia de los Muertos.
