FDES hosted a Parent Education Night on Thursday, January 24th from 5:30-7PM.
The evening was focused on how parents can support their children in their educational journey. Parent Education Night began at 5:30PM in the cafeteria with a PTO meeting and an overview of the school's Title I plan. After the meeting and overview, staff members offered several different sessions to choose from with each session lasting approximately 20 minutes. Students in attedance watched a movie in the Music Room while parents enjoy the sessions with FDES faculty.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports- presented by Ms. Maestle SOL preparation- Mrs. Downey and 3rd/4th grade teachers will discuss the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessment and ways to prepare your child for the test. Reading websites- Learn how technology can enhance reading opportunities for students at home. Technology- Kelly carey leads an information session about Common Sense Media
Spanish Literacy Orientation- Mrs. Studebaker and Senora Petrowitsch will share ideas on how to support children reading and writing in the Spanish language with fun strategies and websites for use at home.
Ready Rosie- Debbie Beeman and Liz White will present information about Ready Rosie and how it can be used to help your child. Cyber Bullying- Amy Zimmerman will present parental guidelines for internet safety.
