At its January 7 meeting, the Winchester Public School Board elected Ms. Marie Imoh as Board Chair for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Imoh has proudly served as an appointed member of the school board for the past five years and is currently serving as the first At-Large elected school board member.
Marie feels privileged to be a part of a community that values and invests in quality education and is engaged, ensuring that all students have the best opportunities for an excellent education.
Marie served in the United States Army on active duty for 8 years and holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She is the Clinical Director at National Counseling Group for the Northern Virginia Region, an organization providing Mental Health Services for individuals and families throughout the Commonwealth.
Marie believes that quality education should be accessible to all in spite of physical and mental health challenges. She believes that public education is perhaps the single common experience for most individuals, and that the success of the experience is often determined by the school division's commitment to the quality of their schools. Marie believes that public schools assume a large responsibility for preparing students to contribute to their local communities, their cities and their ever evolving society.
