Former Gov. Doug Wilder to be Keynote Speaker

Black History Month graphica Winchester Public Schools and the Winchester Education Foundation have announced that former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder will be the keynote speaker at the John Handley High School Black History Month Celebration on February 11, 2020, 10 a.m. in the Patsy Cline Theatre at John Handley High School.

Governor Wilder’s visit was arranged through the efforts of the Winchester Education Foundation and Executive Director Russ Potts as part of The Delegate Jim Scott Public and Community Service Initiative, a program which was made possible by the generous contributions by Inova Health System, Knox Singleton, Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Delegate Jim Scott’s wife Nancy, and Delegate Marcus Simon.

The late Delegate Jim Scott served with Governor Wilder in the Virginia General Assembly and was a 1956 graduate of John Handley High School.
