Benefit Concert for Douglas School Alumni Memorial Wall

Douglas School alumni and students Winchester Public Schools will present a Benefit Concert on Friday, February 28, for the Douglas School Alumni Memorial Wall featuring Soul Expressions Band from Richmond, Virginia.

Douglas School, also known as the Douglas Community Learning Center, is a historic school for African-American students located in Winchester, Virginia. The school served as the only African-American school in the city until 1966, when it was closed after integration of the Winchester schools.

Winchester Public Schools' Office of Equity and Community Equity Leadership Team are committed to erecting a Memorial Wall displaying the names of all Douglas School Alumni in front of the property after the renovation and restoration of the building is complete.

All proceeds from the Benefit Concert will go directly to the funding of the Douglas School Alumni Memorial Wall Project.

The Soul Expressions Band will play a high-energy mix of funk, rock, Motown, and today’s pop hits.
