Announcement of Division Literacy Specialist

Jamie Woodall, Division Literacy Specialist Winchester Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Woodall as Division Literacy Specialist effective October 14, 2019.

Mrs. Woodall has most recently served as the Reading Specialist at Daniel Morgan MIddle School. Prior to her experience with WPS, Jamie served as a PreK and Kindergarten teacher, Reading Specialist serving students K-5, and taught both undergraduate and graduate literacy courses at James Madison University.

Jamie was selected to be a part of the 2017 VDOE English Curriculum Framework Committee as well as a participant in the 2019 Virginia SOL Item and Test Review committees.

Jamie earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Ohio Northern University and  earned her M.Ed. from James Madison University.

“I am thrilled to begin this new journey as the Division Literacy Specialist.  Winchester is a very special place. The sense of urgency, passion, and grit among our administrators, teachers, and staff is contagious.  Each of these things has such a long lasting positive impact on our students and community. Literacy is the essential foundation of education.  ALL of our kids deserve the best foundation that we can provide. I am proud to be a part of that.”

Mr. Jake Boula, Director of Elementary and Intermediate Instruction, stated, "Jamie has demonstrated leadership and knowledge of the essential components of literacy instruction and will be an asset to our entire division. Her passion for empowering teachers with the skills and resources needed to enhance our literacy instruction will be exciting to be a part of, and I look forward to having her on our team."
