WPS is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Judy McKiernan as Director of Student Services effective immediately.
Judy began employment with WPS as the Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator in 1990. Her role has evolved over the years as the needs of our families have grown. She has been serving as Interim Student Services Coordinator since July 2018.
“I am honored to work with a dedicated, highly skilled team of Student Support Specialists and School Counselors, and I’m eager to continue our efforts to support families in order for their children to be physically and emotionally ready to learn.”
Dr. Van Heukelum commented, “We are truly fortunate to have Judy to serve in this capacity. She has a wealth of knowledge and ground experience and is a champion for our kids.”
Ms. McKiernan has a Bachelors in Social Work from the Worden School at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX, holds a Masters in Social Work, with a specialty in School Social Work from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and earned her Educational Leadership Certification from James Madison University.
Judy and her husband, Michael are both employees of WPS. Their two children were raised in Winchester Public Schools K-12.
