Garland Quarles Elementary School and John Kerr Elememtary School have been officially designated as Chapters in the National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM).
The mission of the NSTEM is to engage students in STEM disciplines and recognize student achievement. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Both JKES and GQES will be inviting student members starting in the Spring. Members of the National STEM Honor Society participate in STEM projects and enrichment activities such as science fairs, community events, and summer camps. Most Chapters meet at least once a month to work on projects, share challenges, or present their work.
The JKES and GQES Chapters of NSTEM were started as part of the Metrics Grant. A special thank you to Dr. Jennifer LaBombard-Daniels and Mrs. Amy Thomas for their work establishing our NSTEM Chapters.
