Come Learn & Play at GQES STEAM Night!

COME LEARN AND PLAY AT GARLAND R. QUARLES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STEAM NIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 25, 2019 FROM 6-8 PM.

Garland R. Quarles Elementary School is delighted to bring the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum's STEAM Night to Winchester on Wednesday, September 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Quarles Elementary students and their famlies/adult caregivers are invited to participate in a hands-on evening of free choice STEAM learning activities with families working together to complete activities at their leisure during the 2-hour event.  The cost for participation is free due to the generous sponsorship of Quarles Elementary School PTO.

What is a STEAM Night?  The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum's STEAM Night offers engaging Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics activities that foster family/school connections.

The Discovery Museum's STEAM Night programming features hands-on activities that spark curiosity and make learning fun and playful while connecting to the Virginia Standards of Learning, NextGen standards, and Common Core standards in an enriching and imaginative way.  Activities are geared to children in PreK-5 and are designed to allow parents, grandparents, or adult care-givers to self-guide their learners through each station's experiment or activity.

The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum sparks curiosity and inspires learning through exploration and creative play.  Hands-on learning is what the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum does best.  Explore life along the Moccasin Train in the Native American exhibit, learn about simple machines while playing in an apple shed, experience the laws of physics while racing balls over ramps and through loops, and so much more!  With exhibit areas focusing on the arts, mathematics, sciences and the humanities, the Discovery Museum offers hours of fun for the entire familiy.  For more information, contact Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor, lead museum educator, at 540-722-2020, ext. 103.
