I am so excited about teaching 1st grade at VACDES again this year! I have taught PK, K, 2nd, and 4th, but I love 1st grade. It is an absolute joy to watch children learn to read and develop number sense.

I did not start my career as a teacher immediately after college, instead, I spent many years working in accounting. Although I enjoyed the challenges of my career, I felt that I wanted a job where I could give back. I returned to school and completed my teaching degree at Shenandoah University. I was lucky to have an advisor who guided me and supported me. I will always remember her saying that anyone can learn how to teach subjects and concepts, but you have to start with just loving the kids.

I am extremely active and enjoy exercising and outdoor activities. I have been a reader my entire life and make it a habit to read every night before bed. Mysteries and nonfiction are my favorites.
