I’m very excited that we are back to school at Daniel Morgan! It’s going to be a great year.
I’ll tell you a little bit of my history. I grew up in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. I went to college in Arizona and ended up living there for 9 years. I moved back to my hometown 6 years ago. I taught in Arizona for 4 years and in West Virginia for 5 years. This year makes my 4th year teaching art at Daniel Morgan. I am excited that students will be creating artwork in a more personalized way this year. Students will be encouraged to create artwork in their sketchbooks that they can more personally relate to and interact with on days when we are not together at school.
Although I didn't start my teaching career in art, my passion has always been for the Visual Arts. I feel that art allows you to discover who you are in this world. It also serves as an outlet for expression and relieves stress. Through art you can discover your Voice! Art enables you to see the world from many different perspectives. It is my hope that students will learn a lot about who they are and who they want to be through their production of art this year. Students will find their weaknesses and strengths and build upon their knowledge to become more successful artists with each year.
For those of you returning, I cannot wait to see you again! For those of you that are new, "Welcome" and I look forward to meeting you!
