Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Patricia Hollins

Hello!  My name is Patty  Hollins, and I'm thrilled to say this is my 29th year teaching!  I grew up in this lushly, beautiful Shenandoah Valley and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts degree from Eastern Mennonite College in 1991 and a Master of Education in Literacy degree from Eastern Mennonite University in 1999.  I began my teaching career at Warren County Middle School where I taught 7th grade English and Virginia History for two years and 8th Grade English and Journalism for two years.  My family and I then moved to Buena Vista, Virginia, where I taught 1st Grade for six years.  In 2001, we relocated to Winchester where I have been teaching ever since.      After spending 16 years at John Kerr Elementary School (taught Kindergarten for three years and third grade for 13), I became 4th grade ACE Center teacher at Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School.  This is our fourth year with this program.  At VACDES, my additional responsibilites include being the ExCEL Specialist, the 4th grade Team Leader, and sponsor of our Garden Club.

I have two adult children and I am a grandma (soon to be X5 in January).  I enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies, playing board and card games, and spending time with my family, including my fur babies.
