This is my first year working with first and second graders in the PEAP program and I am so excited! Previously, I spent years teaching 3rd grade, and this my sixth year with WPS. Prior to Winchester, I taught in Prince William County after obtaining my Master's in Elementary Curriculum & Instruction at George Mason University. I also hold a B.A. in Theater and enjoy teaching after school acting and improv classes. I am locally endorsed to teach Gifted Education, and state endorsed to teach Theater Arts K-12 and Elementary Pk-6.
First and second grade are such developmental years for students. I love to watch the transformation of my students who come in as primary students and leave as independent thinkers, learners and creators. I believe in the foundation of conceptual understanding to allow students the opportunity to discover more abstract concepts themselves, resulting in ownership of their learning.
When I am not with my virtual students, I am relishing the moments of being a mom to the brightest and funniest five year old boy. We love Chick-Fil-A dates, building everything with legos, and snuggling to some Netflix.
