This is my 33rd in public education. My experience includes: 14 years teaching first grade for Frederick County Public Schools, 2 years teaching fifth grade for FCPS, 4 years teaching Reading Recovery for FCPS, 8 years teaching third grade for Winchester Public Schools, 4 years teaching fourth grade for WPS, and 4 years teaching technology for WPS. This year I am honored to be an interventionist. As a school level interventionist, I will provide students with multi-tiered systems of support. In simple terms, I will analysis student data to identify students who may need additional academic, behavioral or emotional support. Once a student has been determined to need a little extra support, I will develop a plan with the classroom teacher to meet the student's needs. I will also support the student by providing small group or individual instruction.
I made the decision to become a teacher in elementary school. I believe it was one of the three best choices of my life. Not only do I enjoy teaching, but I love spending my days with the under 10 crowd. Children have a way of making me want to make their world a better place. Although I teach math, language arts, science and social studies, my favorite thing to teach is that determination, commitment and hard work pay off.
I have two adult daughters, two grandchildren and a rescue dog. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending as much time with my family as possible. Recently I have been bitten by the travel bug and have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Iceland, France and Italy.
