Hi there! I am Mrs. Vanderwater, and this is my 4th year teaching at Frederick Douglass. I work with various grades and classes, so you may or may not see me in many different classrooms around the building. :)
I grew up in Latrobe, PA and graduated from Greater Latrobe Senior High School in 2007. From there, I went to college at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA and dual majored in elementary and special education, graduating with my bachelor of science degree in 2011.
My husband Michael and I began our teaching careers in NC, working there for four years. In the summer of 2016, we moved to Martinsburg, WV and began teaching in Winchester Public Schools. He currently teaches social studies at Daniel Morgan Middle School. We have a sweet and spunky toddler named Tanner, and a miniature dachshund named Bazinga.
I love to teach and I absolutely love my students at FDES!
