Ever since my first job teaching English in Japan, I have loved learning from and with students of different backgrounds.  In addition to teaching 8th grade language arts, I have worked with English language learners at the college, elementary, intermediate, and now high school level.  I was honored to be named John Kerr Elementary School's "Teacher of the Year" in 2017 and Daniel Morgan Intermediate's "Teacher of the Year" in 2022. 

My professional interest lies in vocabulary development, but I am passionate about many other things as well, including raising my two young sons and trying to get the right reading material into the right set of student hands.
