Ms. Christine Zahran is excited to join the John Handley Staff for the 23-24 school year.
I am a first-generation American, born and raised in the United States. My father is Palestinian, and my mother is Dominican. I am a lover of learning languages and speak four. My goal is to be fluent in six languages. You can call it a hobby! I spent almost ten years teaching English in China, and I had the opportunity to travel to 28 countries. I was a part-time Professor at a university this past year and enjoyed the opportunity to gain higher learning experience. Diversity and learning about other cultures is a passion of mine. I enjoy cooking foods from other countries, especially Mediterranean, Thai and Sushi. Traveling, hiking, journaling, riding horses, dancing salsa, playing baseball, and trying new activities are some of my past times. This year, I hope to learn how to scuba dive and visit Bali. I have a master’s in teaching English as a Second Language, and I have four classes completed towards a second master’s in Applied Linguistics from Liberty University. Teaching the English language, supporting non-native English speakers and their families to adjust to American society is a passion of mine. I take pride in my multi-cultural background, and the skills that I have learned along the way to help bridge the gap, so that students can become the best that they can be in our society.
