Mr. States began his teaching career at Totaro Elementary School in Brunswick County, Virginia in 1999.  After seven years, he relocated to Winchester, Virginia.  He taught Fourth Grade at Garland Quarles Elementary School for three years. In 2010, Mr. States then transferred to Daniel Morgan and has taught Fifth Grade Math. In 2019, Mr. States relocated to room 50 (haha!50 States) to teach 6th Grade Math. However, that was short-lived, because he returned to 5th grade the next year.

Mr. States is married to his college sweetheart Christy and they have one child Alex, who graduated from John Handley High School. He is currently enrolled at JMU and is employed as a nurse .
