Dr. Matthew Reames
Matthew Reames has been a mathematics educator for more than twenty-five years. He has experience teaching children aged 4 to 16 in public and private schools in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Dr. Reames is currently a 5th grade mathematics teacher at Daniel Morgan Intermediate School. He is endorsed in grades 4-8, mathematics, gifted education, engineering, and computer science. Additionally, he teaches mathematics methods and field-based research courses at the university level.
A graduate of John Handley High School, Reames is the recipient of the Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics (VCTM) 2017 William Lowry Math Educator of the Year Award for the middle school level, as well as the 2020 Stewart Bell Jr. Excellence in Teaching Award.
He earned his PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia, as well as both a Master's degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Virginia Tech.
