Dr. Nan Volinsky

I am from New York, which you can detect when you hear me speak. I am passionate about the Spanish language, and I get to teach around 185 students this year in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. I play traditional Peruvian violin music and I travel to Peru every chance I get. I have a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology with a specialization in ethnicity and ethnomusicology (the study of music from an anthropological perspective). I have conducted ethnomusicological research in Ecuador and Peru for a total of nine field sessions. I have taught Spanish at Daniel Morgan for over a decade. I am excited about using the widely acclaimed SOMOS FLEX curriculum for distance as well as in-person learning. This program emphasises storytelling over grammar lessons.
